Taste of the offshore

2 Days / 1 Night

FAD Adventure

Best for: trying overnight fishing without a long commitment.

  1. Day 1 Pre-dawn departure from Los Sueños or Quepos and a run to the closer offshore grounds, about 80–100 miles out. Fish from late morning for blue marlin, sailfish, tuna and dorado. Dinner on deck.
  2. Night Drift or slow-troll with live bait.
  3. Day 2 Fish the dawn bite, then run back to the marina by evening.

Marlin Expedition

Best for: experienced anglers who want maximum time on the FADs.

  1. Day 1 Early departure from Los Sueños or Marina Pez Vela. Long run to the seamount and FAD zone, with a shot at the first fish before sunset.
  2. Day 2 A full day working several FADs with switch baits and live bait. Tag and release, then a night drift offshore.
  3. Day 3 Morning fishing, then the run home, back by sunset.
For hard-core marlin anglers

4 Days / 3 Nights

Seamount Expedition

Best for: serious marlin anglers and multi-boat groups.

  1. Day 1 Pre-dawn departure from Golfito or Los Sueños and a run of up to about 150 miles to the far FAD chain.
  2. Days 2–3 Full days rotating between FADs, with chances at double and triple hook-ups.
  3. Day 4 Morning fishing, then a late-evening return.

FAD season

Nutrient-rich currents bring blue and black marlin, plus sailfish and tuna. The time for multi-day FAD trips, especially June to early September.

November–April

Calmer seas

Sailfish, dorado and tuna. A good time for a single overnight trip or a combo with day charters.

Which FAD package should I choose?

Choose 2 days / 1 night for a first taste of overnight fishing, 3 days / 2 nights (our most popular) for maximum time on the FADs, or 4 days / 3 nights to reach the far FAD chain.

What is included in a FAD fishing package?

A private 40–60 ft long-range yacht with captain and mate, heavy marlin tackle, all meals and drinks aboard, air-conditioned cabins, safety gear, fuel, bait, ice and INCOPESCA fishing licenses.

Where do FAD packages leave from?

Los Sueños or Quepos (Marina Pez Vela) for 2-day and 3-day trips, and Golfito or Los Sueños for 4-day seamount expeditions.

When is the best time to book a FAD trip?

May to October, especially June to early September for blue marlin. From November to April, a single overnight trip is a good option for sailfish, dorado and tuna.

How many people can go on a FAD trip?

It depends on the boat. Tell us your group size and we’ll match you with a yacht that has enough cabins, or plan a multi-boat trip for bigger groups.
