Los Sueños vs Quepos:
Which Fishing Hub Is Best for You?
Two big Central Pacific marinas, about an hour apart, fishing the same blue water. The real differences are the drive, the feel of the marina and what you want to do when you’re not fishing.
The short answer
Same ocean.
Different trip.
Los Sueños Marina sits in Herradura Bay, about 5 minutes north of Jacó. It’s the closest major marina to San José, so it suits short trips and anglers who want to fish the day they land or the day before they fly.
Marina Pez Vela in Quepos sits next to Manuel Antonio, about an hour further south. The drive is longer, but you get a relaxed town, the national park and a coast known for big sailfish numbers in season.
Both marinas fish the Central Pacific, so the seasons are the same. Pick the one that fits your travel plans.
